PORT WORKS.

Sub-head 39. Construction of Rubble Mound between Oil Street and M.L. 321, $10,000 To complete the rubble mound in connection with the reclamation of the area in front of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club premises.

40.-Construction of Rubble Mound at Kennedy Town, $40,000.—To complete the mound required to provide an alternative dumping area for recurrent dredging and building debris.

PUBLIC HEALTH & BUILDINGS ORDINANCE 41.-Resumptions for Road Widening Schemes approved by Government as rebuilding occurs, $10,000. This vote is to cover expenditure in connection with resumptions of private properties fronting on roads which require either widening or realignment.

42.-Resumption. Aplichau. $7.100-To resume certain areas which af

present obstruct the economical development of the village.

ANTI-MAI ARIAL WORK.

43.—Anti-Malarial Works including purchase of land $100,000.—This vote is for anti-malarial work in Hong Kong, Kowloon and the New Territories. It provides for the training of stream courses, and draining of swamps to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.

KOWLOON.

BUILDINGS.

44.-Kowloon Magistracy, $120,000.-The work consists of the erection of a Magistracy Building on the borders of King's Park and adjoining Gascoigne Road. The building will be of three stories and contain in addition to the two large Court Rooms, a small Juvenile Court, Waiting Rooms. Stores for Records, Cells and Detention Room, Quarters for Messengers etc.. Magistrates' Chambers, Solicitors' Room and Office accommodation for the Administrative Staff. The top floor will consist of two European Flats.

The building will replace the old and inadequate temporary Magistracy now contained in what was formerly the Yaumati Police Station.

45.-Kowloon Hospital Additions, $36,000.-To complete the additions which comprise a new General Ward Block for 3rd class patients, a block of Nurses' Quarters and an additional Medical Officer's house.

46.-New Residence for Director of Royal Observatory, $22,000.—To complete the erection of a detached honse in the Observatory grounds for the use of the Director.

47-New Central British School, Buildings and site formation, $50,000.—

To complete work on the site formation of this school.

48.-Mong Kok Tsui New Market, $18,000.-The proposed building is of the usual market type, one storey in height with open sides and caretakers quarters on the roof. Accommodation includes 21 stalls and a poultry killing room.

Sub-head 49.-Market at Tong Mi, $22,000.-To provide for the erection of the usual type one storey open market comprising 24 stalls with caretaker's quarters on the roof The site is on the west side of Laichikok Road, on that area reserved for the Sanitary Department according to the Town Planning layout.

50.-Kowloon Hospital Out-patients Department. $70,000.-The existing accommodation in the main hospital block is totally inadequate to cope with the increasing number of out-patients. The new block will be sited at the Waterloo Road-Argyle Street entrance to the hospital. It is one storey in height and consists of a large central waiting hall with consulting and examining rooms opening off.

51--Latrine at the Junction of Ningpo & Woosung Streets, $6,000. To

convert the existing dry latrine into one with a water carriage system.

52.-Accommodation for Mong Kok Fire Substation, $40,000.-To provide accommodation for additional fire fighting appliances and personnel in the Mong Kok area.

53.-Hung Hom Government Store, $20,000.-The want of a building sufficient to protect stores from the weather has been apparent for some time.

54. Temporary Post Office Building at Kowloon Point, $30,000.—With a view to the ultimate redevelopment of Government buildings at Kowloon Point and to meet the demand for better postal facilities it is proposed to construct a temporary post office on the vacant land to the east of and opposite the Peninsula Hotel.

GENERAL WORKS.

55.-Roads, $80 000.-The vote will meet expenditure incurred by road surfacing, kerbing, channelling and the construction of footpaths in new areas under development.

56.-Drainage (a) Training Nullahs, $1,000.--To make provision for stream

course improvement in areas under development.

57.-

(b) Miscellaneous Drainage Works, $70,000.-This vote is mainly for the provision of sewers and storm water drains in areas under development.

58.-Miscellaneous, $5,000 —The vote provides funds in respect of various

small works which arise during the year.

59.-Water Works (a) Miscellaneous, $8,000.--To provide for extensions to subsidiary water mains and miscellaneous minor works.

(b) Meters, $50,000.—To provide for the installation of

meters throughout the year.

61.-Port Works. $1,000-Required for taking soundings, borings and preliminary investigations in connection with new and proposed harbour works, foreshore dumping etc.

COMMUNICATIONS.

62.-Improving Waterloo Road from Disinfecting Station to Railway Bridge, $10,000.-To complete Waterloo Road to its full width over the above section.
